MICRO- AND NANO TECHNOLOGY II (5 c 1TE018)

Semiconductor technology has revolutionized the electronic industry, and today, the cost of pringing one letter in a book i less than the cost of manufacturing a silicon transistor. In chemistry and biochemistry, the use of micro- and nano technology has made it possible to develop new analytic methods, and to improve old methods. Microstructured devices has e. g. made it possible to perform DNA-analysis from very small samples using polymer materials to reduce the costs. In this course, theory is mixed with laboratory work and company visits. The main topics are:

  • Semiconductor technology
  • Chemical sensors
  • Microfluidics
